Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

Apply online for an individual TIN on the TRA Taxpayer Portal using your NIN.

Open the official site taxpayerportal.tra.go.tz

Documents to prepare

Official ID: National ID, passport or voter ID
A phone number that receives SMS (OTP)
For a business TIN: a local government letter and a lease or title for the premises

Steps to follow

Tick each step when you finish it. Saved on your phone only.

Open the TRA Taxpayer Portal and click 'Apply for TIN'.
Enter your NIN and phone number.
Complete the TIN form (non-business or business) and submit.
Enter the OTP sent by SMS.
You receive an SMS with your TIN and password.
For a business TIN, TRA will hold a tax assessment interview.
